Explorer Program

It is the Albert Lea Police Department’s Mission to enable youth to become responsible  individuals by teaching positive character traits, career development, leadership, and life skills so they can make ethical choices and achieve their full potential.

The Albert Lea Law Enforcement Explorer Post is part of the Boy Scouts of America’s Learning for Life Program.  Becoming an Explorer gives young men and women between the  ages of 14 and 20 an opportunity to explore the field of Law Enforcement.  Meetings are held every other Tuesday between 7:00PM and 9:00PM at the Freeborn County Law Enforcement Center.  The Albert Lea Law Enforcement Explorer Post is comprised of twenty Explorers under the direction and mentorship of Officer Jacob Stockwell, and command of Lieutenant Darin Palmer.
