Central Water Tower Replacement
January 13, 2020: After public comment, the city has chosen the spheroid design and will locate the tower in the same area as the existing tower.
The Central Water Tower, located on the corner of Fountain Street and Newton Avenue is deteriorating and in need of replacement. The City of Albert Lea, along with engineering firm Bolton & Menk, evaluated multiple locations in the city. It was the conclusion of the study that a downtown location would be the best choice for the water system. Below are the locations ranked in preference by City staff from 1-4. If more than one location has the same number, it is because it is equal in preference with another location.
An open house was held November 26, 2019, a video of the presentation is available on our YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/LGBvRtW0Qfk
