The City of Albert Lea (pop 18,045) is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Public Safety. The Public Safety Department consist of police, fire and emergency management functions of the City. With the Public Safety structure, the City has substantial resources to deploy to keep the community safe, enhance services and provides the best use of public dollars. The 70-employee department is divided into two separate divisions to provide the highest quality services in a timely and cost effective manner.
Qualified applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in political science, criminal justice, law enforcement, fire science, business or public administration, or related discipline. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible law enforcement, public safety, emergency management and/or fire service experience which include management and supervisory responsibility, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The salary range for this position is $85,654.40 – $111,342.40
