Downtown Sidewalk Replacement Project Updates (1803)

May 22, 2018 – Ti-Zack Construction is the contractor for this project. The contractor has begun work at the north end of Washington Avenue. The plan is to have one crew doing removals and another crew following closely behind placing new concrete. Below is the tentative schedule:
– West side of Washington Avenue (Fountain Street to Pearl Street)
– East side of Newton Avenue (Pearl Street to Fountain Street)
– East side of Washington Avenue and the side streets between Washington & Broadway
– West side of Newton Avenue and the side streets between Newton & Broadway

June 1, 2018 – The contractor made a lot of progress this week with the good weather. They have mostly been following their proposed schedule (listed above under the May 22nd update). Their focus this week was on the long stretches of sidewalk. Once this had been completed, they will turn their attention to pedestrian ramps and the concrete boulevard areas.

June 8, 2018 – With the exception of the rainy day on Friday, the contractor made good progress this week. Most of the large pieces of sidewalk have been replaced. The contractor is mostly concentrating on filling in the smaller pieces at this point. Weather permitting, we anticipate all concrete work and bituminous patching will be completed by next week. Once concrete work has been completed, the contractor will perform turf restoration and general cleanup which will include power-washing of all building faces that have been dirtied by the project.
