May 22, 2018 – Wencl Construction is the contractor for this project. The contractor has begun setting up traffic control and erosion control measures along with the temporary water supply. They also plan to begin removing the existing pavement and curb & gutter. When the temporary water is complete they will begin replacing the underground utilities starting at the east end of the project (Valley Avenue intersection) and work towards the City Beach.
June 1, 2018 – This week the contractor finished setting up the temporary water supply and switched service over for affected properties along the project. They began working to install the new watermain at the intersection of Green Avenue while they were waiting for the new sewer manholes to arrive. Once the new manholes were delivered, the contractor switched to replacing the sanitary sewer beginning at Valley Avenue. Next week they plan to finish replacing the sanitary sewer and then resume replacement of the watermain.
June 8, 2018 – Good progress was made this week. The contractor finished replacing the sanitary sewer and was able to get about half of the watermain replaced. The watermain has been replaced from Green Avenue to just west of Alice Avenue. Next week they will finish replacing the watermain and perform the required pressure and bacteria tests. If time permits following the testing they will begin replacing sewer and water services from the main to the property line.
