Library program: Real-world research behind fictional stories

The Albert Lea Public Library invites the public to Bring Your Own Lunch and Learn on Thursday, Aug. 14, with the program, “Research and Writing” presented by author Christopher Valen.
Valen, a Minnesota native, is the award-winning author of 10 works of fiction featuring John Santana, a Colombian-born homicide detective in St. Paul. Learn about Valen’s hands-on approach to writing, including research with the St. Paul Police Department and travel in Mexico and Canada.
The program will be held from noon – 1 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Council Chambers on the top floor of City Hall, 221 E. Clark St. There is no registration or fee required. For more information, visit the library’s website.
