Albert Lea Fire Rescue responded to 522 College St. West at 7:54 p.m. April 26 for the report of a house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found fire in a bathroom on the second floor. Firefighters advanced hose lines and extinguished the fire. All residents of the home were able to escape unharmed.

The losses of structure and contents are estimated to be about $20,000.

The Minnesota Fire Marshal's Office was contacted and coordinated with the department investigator.

The cause of the fire was a vent fan in the ceiling overheating and igniting the plastic cover.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

ALFR reminds residents that ventilation fans are to be used for only short time frames. Less than 20 minutes is best. Prolonged use may cause overheating and potential fire.

Great job, let's keep it going 👏🏾

Mark Harleyman Sorgatz

I dont know how this all works but shouldn't we be using local companies if possible?

Our neighbors work on vehicles in the street all the time.

Any infrastructure that improves the prospects for future development of Albert Lea is cool for me. Thase are some of the oldest areas in town but are very visible to anyone looking to make a home or business here. The edge of town is what attracts people as they drive by or through.

Thank you once again for bringing light to motorcycle awareness. I hope everyday we don't lose a rider in Albert Lea. B. Proclamation Declaring May as Motorcycle Awareness Month

Why don’t we fix 2+ million minus property assessments? Instead of 3 roads this year, let’s concentrate on two and not add additional costs to our homeowners. Thoughts?

Because the city council has to be paid. If you know what I mean

There goes property taxes ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

We’re proud to introduce the updated graphics on our squad vehicles.

As many of you know, the City of Albert Lea updated its logo in 2023. In keeping with that change, the Albert Lea Police Department updated our own logo and uniform patches to align with the city’s new look.

The new squad car graphics represent the final phase of that transition. While the look may be new, our mission remains the same—serving our community with Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Service.

This is not a full or immediate fleet replacement. Instead, the transition will occur gradually as older squad vehicles reach the end of their service life and are replaced through normal rotation. The vehicle unveiled today is the first in this phased rollout, and you will begin to see the new design appear incrementally across the fleet over time.

We’re excited to carry forward a unified identity that reflects both our department and the city we proudly serve.

Looks nice, they should maybe put light bars back on the roof, to help with identifying easier incase of emergency!

This is definitely better!! We can see y'all and not have to guess if its a cop or not.

I like it!! The white door helps it stand out a bit more. 😶

I like the decal but not a fan of the white door.

Water tower looks nice!

Looks nice!

Beautiful!

Looking nice 👍

Very nice!

Looking good

Where is the upgrade at? Looks like a sheriff’s vehicle

I like the water tower

The real question is, was it really a need to waste our tax dollars on? The old design was working just fine.

Now just make sure your running lights work! No need to be sneaky! And you wonder why people hate the police!

You should change how you present it sayinf your new squad vehicles cause the are owned by the people and tax dollars

Did they get new police cars

Looks nice. But plain

And how much did that set the city back 😳

They look nice but pretty plain Jane

And who pays for these new looks, taxpayers should be paying for their vehicles

What's considered a "load"?

Other cities do this for two weekends, both Saturday and Sunday with reasonable hours.

When I lived in Stillwater, we would put our brush/leaves at end of driveway in appropriate bags and it was part of our garbage removal to help keep the city clean. I wish Albert Lea did the same. They also picked up funiture if left at end of drive way free of charge to keep the city clean.

I think they have to have a free day than the country people won't have their ditches filled with mattresses....

When I lived in St Peter we raked our leaves to the curb and the city cleaned them up for free

I would really like to see longer hours for this each year.

You should really have longer hours on the spring clean up day.

Jerry Poole Jazmine Poole

Why is this coming out now?? Why not 2 weekends since it is just being told?

Jackie Wenzel

Ahh you have a business in town 🤪

9:00 to noon is just not long enough for everyone to utilize this.

The City does something good and the community does nothing but whine about it.

When i lived in the Backwoods of Alabama my Kinfolk Cousins actually slept in the Garbage for Warmth...😁🦨🥬

Got in line at 9 and it is now 10 am still 40 cars back.

Wish I would’ve of seen this, now have to work today

The link is broken

Where is this?

Connie Anfinson

How about freezing how much?

How about making the hrs longer for people that actually work past noon.
