So good! Great pic!

Thank you, John Schipper & Crew!

Great event! Can’t wait for next years!

It was a fantastic weekend! What a great memory event for Eddie Cochran who’s life was cut way to short.

It was amazing, best Eddie Cochran weekend I've ever experienced, and I've lived in Albert Lea for a long time. Well done!

480 cars ?

Your welcome!

This event was bigger than any other year! Period! Thanks to SRC sick racing customs for putting in all the hard work and effort to make it happen!! Next year will be even better! Promise.

It was another Great Day!

Great big salute to the promoter.

So, they’re going to help small commercial businesses grow? Is that only in town?

How is this different than the Albert Lea Economic Development Agency (ALEDA)? It literally has the same acronym.

Blah blah blah

LEAVE THE TREES PLEASE: The Parks Department recently found a burr oak tree cut down on public property - by an unknown person - along Blackmer Avenue and lying in Dane Bay of Fountain Lake. The department removed the tree from the water and is working to replace it.

The Albert Lea Police Department is investigating this violation of the shoreland ordinance that aims to protect lake water quality.

By removing this 70-year-old tree, the violator also removed thousands of square feet of leaf canopy that shaded the water and intercepted rainfall.

Every tree along the shoreline helps:
- Prevent erosion
- Filters pollutants from runoff
- Provides wildlife habitat

Manicured lawns that run to the water’s edge do little, if anything, for a lake’s health.

Minnesota laws limit shoreland clearing because a natural vegetative buffer is one of the most effective tools to improve water quality and protect aquatic life such as fish.

Someone probably got mad because a lure got caught in it🤣

Maybe you should talk to the watershed district about buffer zones!

Why would they even cut it down? I mean maybe they were steal the tree

There are some real morons out there.

Creep.

Wake boats destroy shorelines and the phosphorus that people spray on their lawns turns the lake green like it is right now. Leave the trees and get rid of the actual problems

Maybe someone wanted a view? 🤔

Well it’s too early for a Christmas tree. Some people/kids don’t have anything else to do, except for this poor 70 year old tree!

Maybe the beavers are packing chainsaws🤔

Any ring cameras around?

I would guess about a 95% chance that this was a homeowner who wanted a better lake view. That should narrow it down to 2 or 3 houses.

I was wondering what was up with that one day while walking my dog

City of Albert Lea - City Hall Why were the three large trees cut down on St. Mary's Avenue at Morin Park? They did not look sick. They were large, beautiful and provided shade while at the park.

Sucks that someone would cut down a tree but you should also do something about all the invasive buckthorn that surrounds the lake at the shorelines. That would allow native vegetation to flourish and help provide somewhat of a buffer zone from residential runoff that’s full of pesticide, fertilizer, grass clippings, trash and motor vehicle oil and salt from the roads.

Why are you replacing it when yall seem so obsessed with replacing them all with parking lots and Kwik trips?

City of Albert Lea - City Hall did you ask the homeowner whose view was improved by this?

The Lorax is coming and someone is so f’d

Why have shoreline habitats been allowed to be "recrafted" into rock and sand beaches on upper Fountain Lake? Northern Pike need to drop their eggs on standing water grasses. There are no more. Trees? Quit planting them in stupid places. Like under my power line on the boulevard in front of my house.

They cut down the live burr oak and now get to stare at the giant dead ash tree... Genius

I’m willing to bet alcohol was involved here.

WTF is wrong with people 😒 I hope they are able to determine who is responsible!

I blame Obama 🙀🌳🤣

Shameful!!! I imagine it was ruining someone’s view of the lake???

This is for the ones who pointing fingers at homeowners I'm a homeowner on that street and I wasn't happy about that it could of been anyone being stupid drunk I live on that street my view of the lake was find for over 50 years I think it would be wise to know the hole story before anyone starts the blame game have a good day

That’s definitely somebody that’s really gullible to cut down a tree that doesn’t even belong to them and you figure that some of the neighbors were definitely heard it and would’ve reported it

I'm curious as to why not to Austin Mayo Clinic? Wasn't that supposed to be a few years ago?

How about a new hospital with different medical provider!!! 🤔

This does nothing for the elderly. Bring back the small town hospital and clinics

Why is there not a bus going to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester? So many of us have appointments up there with no way to get there. I have had to cancel so many appointments because of no transportation. Every since the one transportation shut down the end of October that took my insurance here in Albert Lea, I have been out of luck because I am under 55.

No thanks I go to Wells now to United Hospital Distrct. Get in right away instead of waiting days for an appointment. Check it out!

Prayers for Xavier, he's always been such a trooper. God bless him. Also, prayers for the driver. Remembering that it was an accident. The 😧 anguish that I can imagine that goes along with that. 🙏🙏.

I am jus so happy to hear he will b ok that’s what matters

SORRY TO HEAR!🤔🙏MARK/SHARON 😞

Big truck , big tires ! Bigger problem! Lol…

Seth Tovar Tanelle Jessica

My son was with and I got the call of him balling . Got up there asap . The 17 year old was in a lift truck with white led lights all around and tinted windows. . Why does a 17 year old who has barely been driving allowed to have all those mods . My kids screamed your on top of him . I think before anyone starts speaking they should wait to comment . I had to walk over and tell the teenager to spit the gum out while talking to the police . No remorse from what I saw. He will never forget what happened but neither will my child or his friends seeing him get ran over Kids have always been kids since forever . But what I saw was a 17 year old show boating with a vehicle putting others at risk.

we are in a generation of E bikes, bicycles, electric, scooters, skateboarders, and not any training for most of them. Sooo dangerous, many of them are young kids that have no clue how to obey the laws. Stop signs , stoplights nothing Parents need to step up also! We have a bike lane and I was going down Broadway Hill and I had a kid on a bicycle in the center of the road. He was going faster than I was, and then cut across all the lanes on the left and went into the gas station🙄 I really really feel sorry for the 17 year-old that is going through this fear, also I am very happy that the boy on the bike is doing well.

I’m also a ebike rider, I’m so cautious of other people driving their vehicles! They don’t care 🤷‍♀️, oh let’s just pull out without looking at both sides! There will be more accidents occurring, the new Philips 66 out by comfort inn, people will pull out right in front of you and NOT look for other vehicles!

This could have been avoided if the person on the bike ‘ YIELDED ‘ !

Its always the drivers fault!!!

17 year olds sure are having difficulties in the area lately.

Yesterday 2 teens on bikes just cut right in front of me on main down by the old godfather location. Neither one of them even turned their heads to look. Noticing more and more of this these days. As well as more kids being hit. Parents are not doing their jobs....

Maybe there needs to be a refresher course for bicylists (and some pedestrians) I see so many that are on wrong sides of the road, in middle of driving lanes and not obeying traffic laws. I remeber learning that in elementary...did we stop teaching that stuff?

Very sad. Have been trying to get the city and the human society to sieze those dogs for well over a year. Horrible ending for them.

Four dogs dead due to neglect.

How do you know if was neglect

Yes it is my son has one puppy from them and they said they were calling the police because the adults said he stoled it which he didn’t their young son gave it to him and told my son to take cuz they are trying to get rid of the puppies I’m not sure how many puppies they had but always outside with no food or water

Albert Lea Fire Rescue responded to 730 Alcove St. at 12:17 a.m. today for the report of a house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found fire showing on the north side of the home, coming out of a kitchen window. Firefighters extinguished the fire and remained on scene to cool any hot spots.

No one was inside the structure at the time of the incident. The house, which was previously deemed a full loss after a fire on April 25, had been placarded for being uninhabitable.

Department investigators contacted and coordinated with the Minnesota Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause of the fire was determined to be arson as the utilities had been turned off after the previous fire, and weather was not a contributing factor.

If anyone has any information leading to a person of interest, please contact the Minnesota Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020.

Great library!!!!

A core memory for me was the day the librarian at Lakeview elementary school introduced me to chapter books. Billy and Betsy books to be specific. Definitely fueled my love of reading!
