Firefighters Bonnerup and Htoo take oath of office

Fire Chief Jeff Laskowske introduced two full-time firefighters, Blair Bonnerup and Kyo Htoo, at the Oct. 27 City Council meeting for an official swearing-in ceremony.

Bonnerup started with Albert Lea Fire Rescue in May 2024 after serving with the Hollandale Fire Department. Laskowske noted that even as a full-time member in Albert Lea, Bonnerup continues to help Hollandale.

Kyo Htoo joined the department in February 2024. He was previously a paid-on-call firefighter for Albert Lea.

Laskowske emphasized that both Bonnerup and Htoo live up to the core values of Albert Lea Fire Rescue, saying they are “committed to help people and do what is right today and in the future.” The two were then sworn in by Deputy City Clerk Karla Tukua and a pinning ceremony followed.
