Council to vote on final street assessments
City News November 7, 2025At its meeting Monday, the Albert Lea City Council will hold public hearings and then vote on setting assessments for several street projects completed in 2025:
- Lake Chapeau Drive
- Crossroads Boulevard
- Betha Larson Lane
- Ross Drive
- Kram Avenue
- Southeast Marshall Street
- Garfield Avenue
- 11th Street
The council will also vote on:
- The purchase of a fire engine and associated equipment, not to exceed $950,000. The new engine, expected to be delivered in January 2026, would replace a 1999 fire engine, which will be sold after the new one arrives.
- Proceeding with new fire alarm system for the City Arena at a maximum cost of $125,341. The city is also seeking financial contributions toward the alarm system from InBylt, the company overseeing remodeling at the arena, and its subcontractors because they did not include the alarm system in the project bids.
The Nov. 10 work session starts at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Both are open to the public and held in the council chambers on the top floor of City Hall, 221 E. Clark St. The meeting will be available live and as a recording on ALTV.
