This downtown park offers green space, a gazebo for special events, a children’s garden, park benches overlooking Fountain Lake and portable toilet. This park hosts the Thursdays on Fountain music series during the summer.
Fountain Lake Park was created as part of a Works Progress Administration project in the 1930s in conjunction with the North Broadway boulevard project. Prior to the dedication of the park and the boulevard, the Albert Lea Tribune reported on Aug. 6, 1937, “The completion of the boulevard, which now connects North Broadway with Fountain Street, brings to a close the big project which has transformed the end of North Broadway from a semi wild, ramshackle section of lakeshore into a beautiful park, with bandshell, fountain, walks, lookout over the lakeshore and a concrete boulevard completing the semicircle above the park itself.” The Albert Lea Sesquicentennial co- chairs installed the children’s garden 2007. The City later replaced the bandshell with an amphitheater and added a gazebo.
Parking available on Lakeview Boulevard and in the public lot at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Lakeview Boulevard.
The gazebo is available for rentals: $60 per 4-hour block for Albert Lea residents and $65 per 4-hour block for residents outside city limits.
