City prepares for street construction season

The Albert Lea City Council recently accepted feasibility reports for the following street projects and set public hearings on the project for its Feb. 23 meeting.

  • Reconstruction of part of Valley Avenue, Johnson Street and Marshall Street: Replace pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalks, and the underlying water, sewer, and stormwater pipes.
  • Reconstruction of St. Mary Avenue and 14th Street: Replace pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalks, and the underlying water, sewer, and stormwater pipes.
  • Parts of James, Frank, St. Joseph, Water, Ermina, Oak Lane, Adams, Euclid, William, Bancroft, Michael Place, Green Lea Lane and Lakewood: Asphalt resurfacing along with curb, gutter and sidewalk replacements where needed.
  • Clark Street from Ermina Avenue to West Avenue: Asphalt resurfacing along with curb, gutter and sidewalk replacements where needed.

These projects aim to improve ride quality, enhance safety and update aging infrastructure throughout Albert Lea.

The Engineering Department will hold neighborhood meetings on the projects to provide information and answer residents’ questions. In addition, the city council will hold a public hearing on all 2026 street projects at its Feb. 23 meeting at 7 p.m. in the council chambers on the top floor of City Hall, 221 E.
