So much fun happening!
INCENTIVES ARE WORKING: The City of Albert Lea is working to meet our community’s need for workforce housing. 3 recent studies show that employers could fill open jobs today if more housing were available. To help jump-start development, the city is offering incentives for builders on 25 city-owned lots, including free land, design assistance, and help with water/sewer hookups. Developers can choose to sell or rent the new homes.
So far, 3 builders have signed on:
🏠 Turning Point Real Estate – multiple homes across several west and south side streets
🏠 GYF Custom Crafts – homes on Fountain Street and Seventh Ave.
🏠 Kingdom Homes – a new home at 614 E. Fourth St.
These short-term investments will support long-term growth in population, property taxes, and utility revenue.

Geez 🙄 do you offer first time home buyers??
SUMMARY OF RESULTS, VISIT WEBSITE FOR FULL STORY: The City of Albert Lea recently asked neighbors about options for redeveloping a contaminated industrial site at 620 Adams Ave: 1) Mini park; 2) Mixed use of business and greenspace; or 3) Full trailhead. The city is applying for a federal grant to clean up the site. As part of the grant application, the city mailed surveys to 160 property owners in the area. A total of 35, or 22%, returned the surveys. Neighbors were nearly split, with 13 favoring the mixed use and 15 a full trailhead. Only 6 preferred a mini park. 1 pledged support for any of the park options. The city acquired the site through tax forfeiture after the former owner, Merrick’s of Minnesota, went bankrupt and abandoned the site in 2018. Why do you want the Public input, when y’all are going to what you want to do? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Do we really need another park so vandals can destroy it?
I understand it's the will of the people that should be done. But why are they asking us? Because we pay them to think for this stuff. So why pay them to do their job?

Shout out to ALL First Responders this week. It takes a team!! Crash Responder Safety Week: November 17-21 This Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) recognizes the critical role of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and 911 telecommunicators—along with law enforcement, fire and rescue, public works and towing professionals-in protecting responders and the public after a traffic incident. This year's theme, "Safety Starts With You — Slow Down and Move Over," reminds every driver that responsibility is shared in keeping responders safe on the roadway, including slowing down, paying attention and moving over when needed. Here's How 911 & EMS Agencies Can Get Involved: Spread the Word in Your Community
Thank you team!
Thank you all for your service.

National seat belt safety day is Nov. 14. Nearly half of vehicle crash fatalities are people who are unbuckled. In 2024, 108 unbelted motorists died on Minnesota roads. A seat belt reduces your risk of death by 45%. Seat belts, car seats and booster seats are critical safety equipment.
ALPD reminds you to always buckle up and ensure everyone in your vehicle is too.

So more than half are from people who are buckled?
Looking very safe Mr. Strom!
It's shocking some people still don't wear seatbelts. Thinning of the not-so-bright from the herd!
Don’t drive drunk or use your cell phone when driving that simply
100 percent ware your seat belt nice pic jeff
Grateful for your commitment to road safety!
Thank you, ALPD! We love and appreciate all of our troops!
Thank you ALPD for the reminder. I have lost a couple friends because they were not buckled up. Those that don't want to then do it for your family and friends.
And I remember getting a ticket during click it or ticket week some years ago.
AMEN 🙏
Isn't that our Choice or just Revenue just asking for a Friend
My vehicle my choice. is the government genuinely concerned about my safety?? 😂🤣 Worried my skin suit is going to fly through the windshield and impale a random citizen?? Stupid law and one more example of government overreach.
Should be our choice if your 18 up but it ain't cause it's revenue
Well put
It is a proven fact that seat belts do not always save lives!! Some people are trapped in their cars and burn to death because they can't get out of their seat belts or as if they would have had no seatbelt on they could have crawled out!! So, are we able to hold the government accountable and sue them when it is proven that if we wouldn't have had our belt on we would have lived or been able to crawl out?? Of course not!! Just another form of Revenue generation for the prison industrial complex!!
Thankyou Jeff!
Its not about safety they just want your money

We live in the area. When our teens were driving into town, I stressed that they not take 46. Take the interstate. Cars, trucks and semis have pulled into my lane in front of me too many times. I quit counting the near misses. I pray for these victims. To say that it is dangerous in that area is an understatement.
This was out near my work. People who saw the accident were definitely shaken up. But from the sounds of it, law enforcement was on the scene in less than 5 minutes. So major props to our first responders for getting there as quickly as they did.
That's a Great Badge, Is The Depiction; Cite or Note! "Police" in The Representation The Fifth Core Value of the Albert Lea Police Department? That's a Great Looking Badge. True Blue typically works best with Police that feel like their not always trying to be legal. At first. Until they synch up any other officer in the State for not being lawful. Which will have them Goat they feel. True Blue will help save the city. You'll get raises. People all over the State will need you constantly. True Blue, has to find a way with that Core Value System. Thank you. More money constantly. 6 figures a piece per officer eventually. I like it for you. Take care. My Mentor Candice Vershauft created the feel. They will arrest each other at first. And then, they will be all the way down constantly realizing that their friends. Are on one. Thank you for your time. It's out there for someone in Minnesota. I'm assuming "Steel County No Knock Warrants" will figure it out . But why knows who will trend it. Word on the street they entered an abandoned apartment complex or something to save battered or struggling animals. Cats or something. They knew they were taking a risk for am animal. They shelter accepts all animals always at all times. Steel County as well. Thought Humans would be cared for by law. Thanks for your time
Hearing she is alive and still fighting is amazing news!! I pray she recovers. I came upon this accident seconds after it happened. I ran to assist her. There wasn’t anything I could do. All I could do is pray for her. I’ve been thinking about her since I left the scene yesterday. Prayers for all families involved.
Really should be slower speed limit around trails and loves. Praying for a full recovery for Anna.
I was at the seen. It's amazing to see that she is still alive. She flipped 3 times in the air and that van landed on top of her head 😞. She was trapped, I'm thankful she is still alive 🙏. I have not stopped thinking about her God bless her soul. I would like to give big props to law enforcement and AL fire, AL ambulance you all moved very fast, and very professional I'm proud of you all. You guys got her out and to safety qwick you all deserve a reward for real. Best I've ever seen any cop or health system move.
Prayers for Ramon and Anna and family
I also think that Ramon needs prayers shame on everyone putting that horrible heartache and remorse and ACCIDENT on someone before everything is investigated I feel horrible for her and the same time all I hear is people trying to do the better then. NEWS RELEASE: 44 ALBERT LEA RETAILERS PASS ALCOHOL, TOBACCO COMPLIANCE CHECKS
The Albert Lea Police Department (ALPD) is recognizing 44 local retailers for successfully passing recent state-required compliance checks for alcohol and tobacco sales.
Officers conducted compliance checks at 47 licensed establishments throughout the city to ensure retailers are following laws that prohibit sales of alcohol and tobacco products to individuals younger than 21 years old. The vast majority of businesses, 44 in total, refused the sale and passed the check.
“We appreciate the commitment of our local retailers to keeping alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of youth,” said Lt. Jeff Strom. “Their cooperation plays a vital role in protecting the health and safety of our community.”
Three establishments failed the compliance check:
• Kwik Trip 804 (906 W. Front St.)
• Thirsty Fox (1105 S. Broadway Ave.)
• The Elbow Room (310 E. Eighth St.)
Individuals who provide alcohol or tobacco to persons under age 21 may face criminal penalties. Licensed retailers also risk sanctions or loss of license for repeated violations.
The ALPD offers yearly training to help retailers ensure compliance. The next Responsible Beverage Server Training (RBST) will take place Nov. 17, 2025, at 7 p.m. The training is free and open to all local license holders. To reserve a spot, contact Strom at 507-377-5254.

On the 126th anniversary of his death, the Albert Lea Police Department honors and remembers Albert Lea Special Policeman Judson H. Randall. On November 4, 1899, 51 year-old Special Policeman Randall was assaulted while executing a court order commanding officers to move a smallpox patient to a quarantine hospital. Special Policeman Randall died from his injuries two days later on November 6, 1899 leaving behind his wife and adult daughter. Officer Randall was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Violent death of a person trying to do good always hurts my heart. I respect all wounded and fallen. 1899. My great grandfather arrived here in 1877
The incident took place in a house, no longer standing, right around the corner from me, on South Newton, near East Fourth Street. I've told quite a few people about this, and all seemed rather shocked to learn that it even happened. Rest in peace, Officer Randall. You are not forgotten.
Sad for the death of a cop. Smallpox vaccination was developed by Lewison in 1796. Not saying yay or nah on either side, but did this confrontation need to happen? Sometimes stupid orders get good men killed. Sometimes wise orders save lives. I respect LEO's willing to do their jobs every day. They never know what kind of "persons" they may encounter.
This would probably occur in mass if Covid 19 type lockdowns are ever enforced again.
Ya, ok an officer died trying to take a love one away from the family that loved this person and place him/her in a facility with strangers to die alone. Sounds familiar, even back then the courts and police officers didn't care. But yet you want to promote this as a hero doing the job. How sad. Even back then people stood up to the tyrannical behavior of the so-called law!!

Thanks for the refresher .... Too many that don't pay attention when the first inclement winter weather hits and they and others pay for their ignorance ...
The wind chill is important because it is a measure of the temperature and the cooling effect of the wind. When the wind increases, the heat from the body is carried away at a rate faster; which in turn will bring down the temperature of your skin and your internal body temperature. Thus causing a higher and faster rate of the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Are you ready for winter?
Winter in Minnesota can be described in many ways, but unpredictable isn’t one of them.
At some point, it will snow and temperatures will drop below zero. There will be ice on the roads. High winds will raise the risk of being outdoors from hazardous to life-threatening.
The best way to avoid the hazards is to stay warm and cozy indoors, but it’s tough to stay cooped up for months — and even staying indoors for long periods carries risks. Problems can arise with indoor air, and fire risks increase dramatically in the winter.
Are you ready for it? Do you know how to stay warm, safe and happy all winter?
Well, fear not. Surviving — even enjoying — the winter season is not as hard as it looks to the uninitiated.
To help Minnesotans and visitors handle winter weather threats, HSEM, with support from partner agencies, has created the Winter Hazard Awareness information campaign.
