Boards and Commissions

Boards and commissions play vital role in city government

Volunteer boards and commissions play a vital role in city government by advising the City Council on operations, policies and projects carried out by city departments. Members of these boards and commissions provide valuable input to council members, city staff and the general public.

If interested in serving on a board or commission, please fill out the applicable application below and submit it to the City Manager’s Office, 221 East Clark St., Albert Lea, MN 56007 or by email to Deputy City Clerk Karla Tukua at ktukua@ci.albertlea.mn.us.

When an opening occurs, the mayor will review applications and recommend an applicant(s) to the full City Council for appointment at a regular council meeting.

Each board and commission has 7 voting members who serve a 4-year term. City councilors and staff serve as non-voting members.
