Valley Avenue & Marshall Street Reconstruction Project Updates – Job 2517
July 17, 2026 – Watermain replacement to the Valley Avenue intersection was completed this week and work installing the new sanitary sewer and storm sewer in the Harding Avenue intersection is underway. Next week watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation will take place in the Valley Avenue intersection and a second pipe crew will begin making water and sewer service connections to the houses along Marshall Street.
July 9, 2026 – This week the contractor Continued work on sanitary and storm piping and manhole structures along Marshall Street, advancing the piping system toward Valley Avenue. Next week they plan to start watermain installation along Marshall Street wets of Bridge Avenue, advancing the piping system to the west along with installing storm catch basins along Marshall Street and installation of utilities in the Harding Avenue and Johnson Street intersection.
July 2, 2026 – Continued work on sanitary & storm piping and manhole structures along the south half of Marshall Street, advancing piping system through Harding Avenue, took place earlier this week. However, due to heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday and the Holiday on Friday, there wasn’t any construction activity on Marshall Street during those days. Next week continued work on sanitary & storm piping and manhole structures along south half of Marshall Street & Johnson Street, west to Valley Avenue, is expected. Watermain work along the north half of Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue is also expected.
June 26, 2026 – Work on sanitary and storm piping and manhole structures along the south half of Marshall Street, advancing the piping system to Harding Avenue, continued this week. Next week they will continue this work along the south half of Marshall Street and Johnson Street west to Valley Avenue along with starting watermain installation along the north half of Marshall Street west to Bridge Avenue.
June 18, 2026 – Continued work on sanitary piping and manhole structure along Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue took place this week. Next week the contractor plans to begin work on storm piping and manhole structure along the south side of Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue, advancing the piping system to the west.
June 11, 2026 – This week the contractor began installation of sanitary and storm piping along Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue. Traffic signals at the Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street intersection have been set to flashing red in all directions, operating the intersection as a four-way stop. Expect vehicle queuing near this intersection, particularly during peak travel times. Please allow extra time if your route includes the Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street intersection. Next week work will include continued installation of sanitary and storm piping, and start watermain installation along Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue, advancing all three systems to the west.
June 4, 2026 – This week chlorination, flushing, and testing of the Temporary Water Piping along the construction route was confirmed completed. Water Shutoff Notices will be issued on Thursday, June 4, notifying affected residents of a water service interruption on Monday, June 8. Next week water services will be interrupted on Monday, June 8, to connect temporary water piping to residents along Marshall Street from Bridge Avenue to Johnson Street at Valley Avenue. Sanitary and storm piping work along Marshall Street west of Bridge Avenue will begin Tuesday, June 9, following completion of the temporary water piping connection. Prior to the start of sanitary and storm piping work, traffic will be shifted through the Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street intersection to accommodate construction. The traffic signal at Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street will be set to flashing red in all four directions during this time.
May 28, 2026 – This week traffic control and street closures were set for construction zone from Marshall St. west of Bridge Ave. to Johnson St. at Valley Ave., including intersection of Johnson St. and Harding Ave and surface removals and temporary water was completed.
May 15, 2026 – The contract was awarded to ICON, LLC. A preconstruction meeting was held this week to discuss this project. They plan to begin work next week on the first phase which will include Marshall Street from Bridge Avenue to Johnson Street and the short section of Johnson Street from Valley Avenue to Marshall Street. Work next week will include setting up traffic control and the temporary water supply and removal of the pavement, curb & gutter, and sidewalk. Traffic will be detoured via Bridge Avenue and Hawthorne Street for the majority of the project.
