ALPD responds to threats of violence
City News February 13, 2026On Feb. 12, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Albert Lea Police Department received a report of threats made toward the emergency department at Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea.
Hospital employees reported that a male caller made statements threatening violence if his family member was transferred to a different facility. The call was received through a hospital switchboard, and based on Mayo Clinic Health System’s internal policies and procedures, the clinic initiated a temporary lockdown of its Albert Lea facility.
Albert Lea police officers immediately began investigating the threat and worked to locate the individual believed to be responsible. Officers located the suspect at a residence in Albert Lea shortly thereafter. The individual admitted to making the call and was taken into custody without incident.
Sky Lamont Christensen, age 37, of Albert Lea, was arrested and transported to the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center. He is being held on a charge of threats of violence (Minnesota Statute 609.713, Subd. 1).
There is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
