The mission of the Albert Lea Senior Center is to coordinate and provide programs and services to enrich the lives and health of senior citizens through educational, social and recreational activities.

The Senior Center spans 8,000 square feet in the Skyline Plaza, 1739 W. Main St., and offers daily programming along with special events. The Albert Lea Recreation Department oversees the center with the Albert Lea Family Y managing the daily operations.

The center is open to residents age 55 and older in Albert Lea and surrounding Freeborn County.

The center offers:

  • Billiards and TV room
  • Large gathering space
  • Card-playing space
  • Puzzle area
  • Arts and crafts room
  • Bag games in the plaza’s common area

Programs include Bingo twice a week, exercise classes, card games, knitting and crafts. Special events include day trips, holiday parties, art classes and more.

The public may also rent space at the Senior Center for graduation open houses, retirement parties and other special events.

Fees

Membership is $30 per person annually, with many insurance companies covering the fee as part of a YMCA membership.
