The City of Albert Lea is governed by a city council of six members representing their respective wards and a mayor representing the entire community.
A city manager oversees several departments that provide services including police and fire protection, water and sewer utilities, engineering, street maintenance, parks system, recreation, economic development, library, communications, business licensing, municipal elections and more.
