City Arena: The arena staff called on the Albert Lea Street Department the week of Sept. 22 to help prepare the Nystrom Rink for ice in mid-October. Given the level of construction dirt on the rink floor, a street sweeper offered an efficient way to start cleaning after contractors removed items from the main rink, used as a storage area the last several months (photo above). In other work, crews started plumbing and installed the electric breaker for the temporary chiller, scheduled for Sept. 29. Work continues on the plumbing for the new water heater and ice-making system, as well as remodeling of the lobby, offices and skate rental area.
Aquatic Center: Contractors poured the foundation for the new admissions building and did the prep work for moving the exterior showers on the family bathhouse.
Marion Ross Performing Arts Center: Delivery of the new front windows and doors is set for Sept. 26 with installation in October scheduled around events at the theater.
