A firefighter in red protective gear and a helmet descends into a confined space with ropes, while another firefighter in black and an orange helmet lies on the ground below.

Albert Lea Fire Rescue invests a significant amount of time in training to be prepared for a wide variety of emergencies, including:

  • Firefighting operations
  • High-level rescue
  • Confined spaces
  • Search and rescue
  • Cold water rescue
  • Low angle ropes
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Vehicle extrication

In addition to rescue training, firefighters cross-train in the areas of public education, fire and safety inspections, public speaking, leadership and team building. As the needs of the community evolve, so too does the training requirements of the fire service. The Fire Rescue department strives to plan for potential needs and to be progressive in its approaches to fully meet those needs.
